E-book cover for The Art Critics

E-book cover for The Art Critics

I’m in the process of coming up for a cover for 6,000 word short story that I am planning to submit to Amazon Digital Text Platform this week. The story is called the Art Critics and takes place in New Orleans before Katrina. The storyline concerns the adventures and misadventures of two young men trying to make it in the Crescent City art world. I have decided to use an Old Masters painting reproduction from Wikipedia. This take care of any copyright problem, plus present an intriguing cover that does justice to the story.

All of the images posted here are popular images that I have decided against using. I’ll post the final result after the story is up. Following are some more iconic peproductions of masterpieces, which I have decided against.

However, the cover style will be similar to what is displayed above. This is a simple design that can be created in a short amount of time through Photoshop.

The Mona Lisa by Leornardo Da Vinci

None of these two ladies made it into the final selection either. I am especially fond of Vermeer’s fine masterpiece, but due to its recent release as the title of a movie against. Below is a satiric view taken of the Mona Lisa shot on the streets of Vienna with a cheap film camera.
