The Importance of Readers
So far my online literary world consists mostly of writers. The great emphasis here is about the how-to side of writing, but still it is important not to lose sight of the fact, that every writer needs readers. In fact, this is not a one-on-one relationship, for to survive a writer needs more than one reader, preferably a lot more. Many aspiring writers are very aware of this fact and include book reviews, literary criticism and general interest stories along with the nuts and bolts of writing a novel, play or film script.
Beyond Words is a blog put out by Chanelle Gray, who describes herself as an aspiring author. Also found on her blog is her reading list, along with many book reviews. Of special notes to writers is a monthly twitter pitch contest. The March contest is being judged by Michael Carr of Veritas Lit Agency and is open for the first 75 contestants or until midnight on March 9, whichever comes first. The contest includes a twitter-sized (140 characters) pitch and the first three sentences of your completed manuscript. For all the details please visit the Beyond Words blog. And while you’re at it you can check out the rest of her blog as well.
